Love the look and feel of this little Jewel in Royal Oak. One of the smallest palace I have eaten at but the dogs are extra good. Bunch of choices for dogs on the menu. Great price and it's open late those of us that are out after the bars close. They just got fry and that is a huge bonus at 2:30 am after a night of drinking.

This place is a joke. It might be as poorly run as its namesake city, Detroit. No method to ordering and pick up of food. A crowd soon leads to anarchy and people grabbing random food that does not belong to them. Worse than that, though, the employees don't care about getting food to the right people, just collecting their money. I imagine there will be a serious fight here soon that will lead to its closure. It has been 48 hours since we paid and we still haven't gotten our food. It is either owned by an absentee owner or someone who does not train their employees. Avoid this place.

Love this place. All local products, great tasting hot dogs. Definitely hitting this spot every time I'm in Royal Oak..

This place was alright but now they're only open Thurs. Fri. Sat. from 7 pm till 3 am or something. So strictly for the bar crowd. Don't plan on eating here for lunch or anything.

Just in from Arts, Beats and Eats. I tried a coney dog combo, and it was excellent. Dearborn hot dogs (my favorite), great chili and onions, and of course Faygo rock and rye to wash it down. The fries were right out of the fryer, hot and crisp. They were brought to us while we ate the hot dogs. This isn't haute cuisine, but it's a Detroit staple done right. The people behind the counter were friendly and helpful, too. The only drawback is that it is a tiny spot, with indoor seating for only about a half dozen people. There is a patio, but that won't help in a few months.

This place should be ashamed to call itself "Detroit Dogs". They slap the detroit on the restaurant but they bring NO and I mean NO vibes of Detroit to this Royal Oak establishment. All of the hot dogs are pricey and not worth the money. I bought 4 hotdogs one time just to try the place out (before they actually put a pricing menu up) and the total was 22 dollars and some change! The menu literally looks like someone sat down and was like "how can we take basic items out the fridge, throw them on some hot dogs and charge almost the same price for a subway footlong for one hotdog". The customer service is horrible and the inside of the restaurant probably can seat probably 4 people..yes there is a 4 person max capacity. The hours that they have posted online are not true at all they are only open 3 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK. But to draw this review closer to the end it's not a good place to eat just walk past it and go to "Noodles & company" or "Burgerz".

My husband and I were anticipating good things from this place...not so much!! We frequent downtown Royal Oak a few times a week. When we saw a hot dog place was coming we were excited to try it. After months of anticipation we were very disappointed for several different reasons. The first..they are never open!!!! One day they are open for lunch the next day not...very inconsistent . Second... The person behind the counter had the personality of one of the cold hot dogs they serve. Third...the cold in the middle hot dogs...not appealing..not to mention the ice cold saurekraut they put on top. We ended up throwing the hot dogs away and went across the street to grab some lunch!! What a huge disappointment!!! It takes skill to screw up a hot dog!! So, it's been a couple of months now since this happened and they have put out some tables and umbrellas for you to sit at but what they fail to do is open!!! They are losing a good amount of business merely by not being open!! I do wish them good luck in the future...maybe they ca turn this place around!!

Not a fan of this place at all. It was chaotic walking into. The hot dog was warm at best, not "hot," I did not like the casing on the hot dog. My boyfriend and I tried 4 different hot dogs between us, I can not tell you one that I would recommend. They have very bland toppings. I doubt I will be back to this establishment. They do have a prime location for being near the bar scene tho.

I just cannot seem to give 4 stars to a simple hot dog joint. Please don't hate me. That said its good. It's exactly what it should be. Friendly service, good prices and a decent hot dog. I had the traditional coney and some fries. Id go back again - its a solid and simple quick lunch stop.
